“It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” by Celine Dion

On Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”, the narrator reminisces over a past relationship and considers going back as she relives the moments shared with her lover. Propelled by gestures from her former lover, she is reminded of the feelings she once had for this person and looks at the possibility of going back to him.

Celine recollects the moments that led to the demise of the past relationship, and her decision to erase every memory they had. She is however led right back into the memories later on as she seems to have been reconnected to her ex-lover physically. Apparently, she really thought she had done away with him and did not feel a thing for him, but his touch and kiss proved her wrong.

The singer constantly reminds herself of the pain she felt in the past, and how she was able to overcome it and stay strong. She also tries to prompt her ex that what they had is in the past, yet she is unable to resist his touch, which is causing the flashback to take place. In the end, she sings about the possibility of them forgiving each other and reuniting.

This was originally written by Jim Steinman for his ‘girl group’ Pandora’s Box in 1989. Celine’s cover didn’t happen until seven years later.

It is a great song. Actually, her lover is dead. From the beginning in that freak motorcycle accident. My guess is he was killed after a huge fight. It was so traumatic, she wiped away all her memories of him. Then then her memory slowly starts coming back one night. I think it was her memory of him. I don’t think he was actually there. She just remembered how it felt like when he touched her. I think the whole point is, she can remember him now, and everything they did together.
