Celine Dion’s “Falling into You” Album

Celine Dion‘s fourth English album, Falling Into You was released by Columbia/Epic Records on March 11, 1996. The Canadian songstress worked with about 14 of some of the top producers of her time to produce the album. Notable among which included the following:

The titular track was actually recorded and written by Marie Claire D’Ubaldo to be included on her 1994 album. It was later in 1996, given to Belinda Carlisle for A Woman and A Man, but was dropped, before Celine finally recorded it as the album’s first single.

While the US version of the album includes fourteen tracks, its Canadian version had fifteen, while other countries contained sixteen tracks. The additional tracks which were not released in the US include To Love You More, Sola Otra Vez, Your Light and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.

Accomplishments of “Falling into You”

Following its release, the album received several accolades notably, a Grammy Award for Album of the Year, as well as Best Pop Album, during the 39th Annual Grammy Awards. The singer was named the World’s Best Selling Pop Artiste of the Year, World’s Best Selling Canadian Artiste of the Year and World’s Best Selling Artiste of the Year at the 1997 World Music Awards.

The album has been included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Definitive 200 list, and has sold more than 32 million copies.

The single, Because You Loved Me peaked at number one on Billboard Hot 100 charts within three weeks of its release.

In France, it was certified Diamond, 12x Platinum in Australia, South Africa and Taiwan, 7x Platinum in the United Kingdom and 11x Platinum in the United States.

The single Its All Coming Back To Me Now was originally written in 1986 for a Meatloaf album. It was turned down and later recorded in 1989 by Pandora’s Box to very little success. When Celine recorded it for this album, the track blew up, hitting number one in Canada, number 2 in the US, and number 3 in the United Kingdom.
