“Love And Hate” by Sevendust

In this song (“Love and Hate”), Lajon seems to be advocating adopting a mentality of resilience and faith. He does so, let’s say in a very indirect, Sevendust-like manner by espousing that we “separate… love and hate” and presumably focus on the former.

Or explained otherwise, the vocalist comes off as the type of person who views both his personal life and the world around him as being messed up. Yet he doesn’t “fear a thing at all”, rather remaining focused on the ultimate goal, which is “seek(ing) heaven” and emerging victorious in that regard.

Indeed, with this being the penultimate track on the playlist of “Truth Killer”, now, upon looking back at the album, we can confidently say that it is replete with religious references. Relatedly, one of its subthemes arguably revolves around the vocalist’s quest for righteousness, in a manner of speaking. And so it appears to be with “Love and Hate”.

But another constant found throughout the album is the fact that its lyrics are far from being straightforward, as there’s so much going on in respective songs that it’s hard to pin them down to just one topic. So it is very much possible that other listeners may not ascertain the same meaning from this track that we have.

“Don’t let me down, oh, please
Hold your breath for me
I’ll be your love and hate”
