“Won’t Stop The Bleeding” by Sevendust

The title of this song (“Won’t Stop The Bleeding”), as presented in the chorus and within the rest of the lyrics, seems to allude to the notion that once a person reaches a certain level of internal toxicity, there is nothing they can do subsequently to “stop the bleeding”. 

In the first verse, Lajon seems to use a character akin to a serial liar to illustrate that point. And in the second verse, he appears to present the example of someone who has developed a tendency of thinking negative thoughts (as perhaps implied by the cover art of “Truth Killer”).

It is possible that what Witherspoon is speaking to is that type of people who ultimately refuse to change for the better. It may be, as implied in the first verse, someone who has grown addicted to abusing others. Or as can be hypothetically interpreted with the second verse, perhaps it’s a person who prefers intrapersonal pity over personal upliftment. In both cases, such a modus operandi is such that the practitioner is bound to meet the less-than-ideal fate of ‘dying alone’.

But to clarify, the above is our interpretation of this song. The challenge we’re facing in our analysis of “Truth Killer” is that first of all, the lyrics of the tracks contained therein are relatively difficult to understand. Secondly, it does not appear as if Sevendust has offered any public explanations to these songs. So this represents our best attempt to make sense out of “Won’t Stop the Bleeding”.
