Meaning of “Hotter than Hell” by Dua Lipa

Hotter than Hell is a song performed by singer and songwriter Dua Lipa. The song, which sees singer Lipa telling a guy to go to hell because he hurt her, is based on a true event in the life of Lipa. And what’s this true event? According to Lipa, she was once in a very toxic romantic relationship with a guy that messed her up pretty badly. By the end of that relationship, Lipa claims she almost began seeing herself as worthless. Speaking to the entertainment and media news website Digital Spy, Lipa said that despite the fact that despite the fact that she was the one who was abused in the toxic relationship, she twisted the story in the song to make it look as though she was the one who had the upper hand because it was “therapeutic” to her. Lipa did this because she never wants to show any weakness in any of her songs.  According to Lipa, the song is an “empowering song”.
