Meaning of “Ausländer” by Rammstein

“Ausländer” translates into English as “foreigner”, which is what the band is depicting themselves as in this track. And the highlight of their travels is apparently having romantic affairs in the various localities which they visit.  So in that regard, the chorus features the singer trying to woo women in different languages. 

And the rest of the track more or less alludes to the lifestyle they live. This lifestyle enables them to achieve these goals. One such goal is constantly being on the move and having to adapt to new languages. So in this song, the singer pretty much takes on the role of an international woman chaser.

• The music video features Rammstein playing the role of travelers, colonialists and missionaries in what appears to be Colonial-era Africa. The theme of the song fits perfectly into the video. And why? Because some of Rammstein’s members find themselves intimately-attracted to the natives.
• “Ausländer” is featured on Rammstein’s untitled 2019 album. That album came out on 17 May 2019. 
• This song was issued as the third single from the album on 28 May 2019. “Deutschand” was the first single to be released from that album. “Radio” was the album’s second single.
• Olsen Involtini produced this track in collaboration with Rammstein.
