“Selfish” by Jacob Sartorius

The lyrics of “Selfish” are a bit more-sophisticated than one would expect from an artist like Jacob Sartorius, who was 15 at the time it came out. He deals with some mature topics, such as the effect growing up in the social-media age has on his generation. But more to the point is that he is addressing the apple of his eye. And what he is relaying his devotion through is what we can deem to be an adult metaphor. And that is by saying that he is laser focused on his own personal development.
