“Sober” by Childish Gambino

On “Sober”, Childish Gambino is addressing his ex. And the implication is that they may have parted ways quite recently, as his emotional wounds are still very fresh. That is to say that the title of this song actually alludes to the notion of the singer now being dependent on alcohol and/or drugs. And the reason he has become so is to subdue the pain he’s feeling from losing the woman he loves. Indeed now he insinuates that she may be dating someone else. So basically, what the lyrics center on is his attempt to win her back.
