“Khabib” by Central Cee

“Khabib” is a lengthy rap which is apparently meant to serve a multitude of purposes from Central Cee’s perspective. Near the top of the list, all lyrics considered, would be the vocalist calling out his haters and detractors. Or more to the point, he has managed to make it in the game despite having adversaries and outspoken critics along the way. In the process, Cee lets it be known that the nasty things people say about him on social media do have a negative effect on his self-image.

But note that this song is actually named after a retired professional mixed martial artist named Khabib Nurmagomedov. On top of being undefeated, Nurmagomedov, a Russian, is also known for his strong adherence to his Muslim faith.

Thus it would appear that the reason Central named this track so is not only to point to the idea of likewise being formidable. But also, instead of letting himself get bent out of shape by the aforementioned haters, Cee has also adopted a disposition of faith, i.e. “let(ting) God” handle his enemies as opposed to doing so himself.

Conclusion

With that in mind, let it also be known that this piece features a strong emphasis of the vocalist holding his ‘brothers’ down and what have you.

But all of that being said, this song is more or less a standard rap and therefore is very much braggadocious, even if relatively humble, in nature. As such ample bars are also dedicated to Central Cee’s come-up, his appeal to women and the notion of the vocalist being a genuine street hustler.

Lyrics to Central Cee's "Khabib"

Central Cee

Central Cee is a rapper from London who came out with his debut LP in 2021. The project, which is titled “Wild West”, impressively peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart.

The “Khabib” Song

Central Cee self-released this track on 10 February 2022, being one of the songs included on his album titled “23”. And yes, at the time he is in fact 23 years of age.

The music video to this track was directed by an entity known as Kunography.

One of the most notably parts of this song is its outro, which is a sampled vocal of Nurmagomedov reciting a Muslim prayer in public, acknowledging along the way that some in the audience “don’t like this”.

And there has actually been speculation, even prior to the dropping of this song, that Central Cee may be a Muslim himself. But whereas he is known to have a particular reverence for this belief system, by the looks of things he is not officially a Muslim as of yet.
