“The Night Time” by TV Girl
The title of this song (“The Night Time”) points to a line in the chorus whereas the vocalist is asserting that “the nighttime is for f*k-ups”, i.e. people such as himself and the addressee. Apparently what that’s supposed to mean in context is that the later hours are when such individuals, i.e. outcasts if you will, can let it all hang out.
Unlike other songs we have thus far come across from “Grapes Upon the Vine”, this one doesn’t really feature challenging-to-decipher metaphors (except for arguably its post-chorus). But at the same time, it really isn’t that descriptive either. For instance, Brad Petering (who wrote this song) never elaborates on how he defines a ‘f*-k-up’. But once again going back to the previous songs on the album, it can be gathered that he’s alluding to the type of people who don’t really believe in established moral principles per se.
“‘Cause the nighttime
The nighttime is for f–k-ups
Yeah, the nighttime
The night belongs to us”
