But still, TV Girl has remained prolific and got around to dropping their fifth-studio album, “Grapes Upon the Vine”, on 30 June 2023. And along with it came “I’ll Be Faithful”, as written by the band’s frontman, Brad Petering, which is the opening track on the 12-song LP’s playlist.

The Lyrics of “I’ll Be Faithful”

The lyrics of this song are very painfully poetic. But what really appears to be going down, more simply explained, is first of all the addressee being the vocalist’s girlfriend.  In other words, since he is telling that he’ll “be faithful”, that’s the kind of terminology that is most often utilized within the context of romantic relationships.

But more importantly, all lyrics considered, would be the reason Brad is compelled to make such a statement to begin with. And that’s because, going back to the poetic nature of this piece, it would appear that what’s being relayed underneath all of the fancy lingo is homegirl cheating on him.

Or more specifically, based on the first half of the bridge for instance, it seems that he’s under the impression that she thinks too highly of herself, as if she is a rockstar or what have you.

And as implied in the first verse, the apple of his eye has a number of romantic suitors. Certain lines in the second verse also give the impression that perhaps she is abusive towards Brad. But, as expressed, he has no intention of going anywhere either way.

So on one hand, this reads like your classic case of a person being in love with someone who is not as appreciative or committed. But the twist is that the vocalist appears to be dedicated to remaining faithful to her nonetheless.

“But ooh (Ooh-ooh-ooh, ah-ah)
It doesn’t matter what you do
I’ll be faithful
I’ll be faithful”
