“Zoom” by Lil Uzi Vert
As of August 12, 2019, rapper Lil Uzi Vert’s “Zoom” is a leak and considered to be an incomplete state. Thus in its current condition, it is relatively monotonous, even for an artist like Lil Uzi Vert who rarely deviates from industry-standard themes.
The title refers to the speed at which the artist is quick to “pull up” on someone else’s girlfriend. That is to say that he is basically telling male listeners that he has the ability to successfully seduce their ladies. And such hubris, of course, is founded in the fact that he is excessively wealthy.
But despite titling this song on a female theme, Uzi Vert himself is not interested in forming any kind of serious relationships with the opposite gender. Rather he presents himself as someone who if a romantic interest were to call him, he wouldn’t even answer the phone.
However, the track itself is not misogynistic. Rather all of the boasting about his authority over women rather alludes to Lil Uzi’s lifestyle in general. And once again, his wealth and fame allow him to live an enviable lifestyle materially and socially. The rapper also seems to allude to gun violence by referencing a “clip” which apparently holds “30” bullets. But even if such is not the case, by all means by the time this track is finished he’ll be threatening to shoot somebody.
But it is also possible that by the time “Zoom” is completed more depth will be added to the song. But as for now it is basically standard Lil Uzi Vert fare which, based on its title and chorus, is founded on his ability to sleep with other guys’ girlfriends.
