“7 Years” by Charli XCX

Charli XCX’s “7 Years” finds her celebrating her romantic relationship with the addressee. And as the title suggests, the relationship has now endured for “seven years”. More to the point is that this duration of time has brought them closer to each other than ever. For instance, where lies once stood, now they have reached the point where they are always honest with each other.

Indeed their relationship has now gotten so “deep” that Charli considers herself to be his “wife”, even though they never formally married. And she is not taking the future of their romance for granted. But still this is clearly a love song in which she takes satisfaction in partaking of what turned out to be a relatively-long romantic relationship.

“Seven years and it’s been you and I, always”

After all is said and done, Charli is using this song celebrate the fact that she and her lover’s relationship keeps moving from strength to strength.
