“Shells” by Shabazz PBG & Lil Uzi Vert
“Shells” is the title of a collaboration between American rappers Lil Uzi Vert and Shabazz PBG. On this song, among other things, Uzi shows some indications of his desire to leave his record label (Generation Now). It’s a well-known fact that more often than not, when an artist is making the attempt to leave his/her record label, whatever pending album they have worked on gets delayed due to legal issues. This could explain the reason why as of December 2018, Uzi’s album Eternal Atake is yet to be released.
In early December 2018, Uzi revealed to his fans that Eternal Atake was completed and awaiting release. However, if Uzi is actually embroiled in a legal battle with his record label like he hints in “Shells”, the release date of the album is going to be extended.
That being said, it’s noteworthy that as of the date of the publishing of this post, Uzi hasn’t released any official statement regarding his wanting to get out of his record deal. However, prior to the release of “Shells”, he had on multiple occasions seemingly hinted of his displeasure of being signed to Generation Now.
For example, as far back as in December 2017, Uzi hinted at making a mistake by signing to the label in question.
