Ava Max’s “Salt” Lyrics Meaning

As you are likely already aware, a human being’s tears contain a considerable degree of salt. And it is this scientific fact which the title of this song is based on. Or more specifically to its narrative, the insinuation is that the singer has cried so much over her ex-boyfriend that now she’s “all out of salt”. Or a simpler way of describing this metaphor is that she is through grieving her romantic loss and has now moved on with her life.

However, this disposition is not mutual. Indeed when Ava outwardly displays her sexiness and sassiness – or as she states when she is ‘looking way too good’ – the homey wants back in. But she is absolutely not interested in entertaining his advances.

So conclusively the sentiment expressed on this track is two-fold. On one hand, the narrator was clearly, at one point in time, devastated by dissolution of a romantic relationship she was in. But on the other, that particular point in time has clearly passed. And she seems to be throwing the idea that her heart is fully recuperated in the face of her ex-lover.
