“Ayye” by Mac Miller
Mac Miller on “Ayye” begins by stating he is drunk and it’s a bad idea to speak. Considering the subsequent lyrics, it is clear that being under the influence caused the rapper to spill out a lot of truths about his life and his views.
He reflects on how much he has grown to be successful in his career and how he gets to have all the fun he wants. Although he believes he has made it to the top, he still sees that there are more heights to reach. In the pre-chorus, he talks about how he anticipates a great night with a smile signifying his mood of excitement. He is aware that he has haters who don’t really know him, and a support system or team that loves him. The rapper then suggests that he got to his current state by chasing his dreams and not just being engulfed in making money.
In the second verse, he recalls how several people believed he would amount to nothing. However, he is now at a point where he feels his name is actually significant in the rap industry. In fact, he has high hopes of getting some accolades while living out his dream.
