“Cash Machine” by Oliver Tree

Oliver Tree gets relatively-direct in terms of getting his intended message across. And that features him attacking materialistic people. Moreover, he isn’t necessarily doing so in a general sense. Rather he is narrowing down on the well-to-do shopaholic – the type of consumerists who actually have the dough to buy the pricey items which their hearts desire. And Oliver depicts the material appetites of such people as one which cannot be satiated. Moreover, he contends that they use the products they purchase as a way of covering up their personality flaws.

So yes, we can definitely conclude that Tree has a bone to pick with capitalism, so to speak. More specifically, he has beef with people spending large wads of money on showy, vain purchases.

This is the third single Oliver Tree dropped from his debut album (under the name Oliver Tree), “Ugly Is Beautiful”. He did so via Atlantic Records on the date of 6 December 2013.

In addition to directing the music video to Cash Machine, Tree also served as one of the song’s writers and producers. And the other two are Whethan and David Pramik.
