The first verse discusses how most people are encouraged to simply fit in and behave the way society approves as ‘normal’. He takes a swipe at the people who decide to remain ordinary and go to the extent of criticizing others for acting differently. He then tells his listeners not to pay attention to the people who want others to fit in without being their true selves.

Oliver takes his beliefs a notch higher in the chorus when he suggests that he is triggered and wants to set the pace for others to be themselves. The pre-chorus sums up his entire message when he talks about not wasting time having two sides. And the two sides he’s talking about are as follows:

  • A public version of oneself
  • An authentic version of oneself.

Very often, people adopt both of the above. And Tree has a problem with that. He is therefore advising that people should embrace their uniqueness so long as it doesn’t hurt themselves and anyone else.

The track was produced by STINT & Tree. July 17th, 2020 was its official date of release. It is one of the tracks from the “Ugly is Beautiful” album.
