As the title suggests, this is a philosophical tune. And honestly there’s a whole lot going on in the lyrics. But the idea that they ultimately seem to point to is that Oliver Tree is suffering from some sort of pessimism. This disposition comes across most pointedly in the second verse, with the artist making assertions like ‘some days he’s dead inside’. And apparently the whole scenario has him contemplating the concepts of life and death and ultimately concluding that life is indeed finite.
And along those same lines, another subtheme of this song can be deduced as Oliver exclaiming that until he does reach his demise (and even after), he plans to remain on his grind.
