“Cinderella Story” by A Boogie wit da Hoodie
Apparently the reason that A Boogie wit da Hoodie decided to name this tune “Cinderella Story” is because the addressee, the woman whom he is absolutely smitten with, has an affinity for “Cinderella stories”. Also in relation to such, he mentions that she likes “glass slippers by Balmain”, which would not only be a reference to Cinderella but also his tendency to spend massive amounts of dough in impressing this lady.
But all things considered, this track doesn’t read like a fairy tale at all but rather a straight-up love song. Or perhaps the overall implication is that being with the addressee is A Boogie’s version of living a fairy tale life. Either way, as aforementioned, he’s really into her. And considering the very-personal nature of some of the lyrics, it didn’t take fandom long to conclude that who he is actually rhyming to/about is a social-media personality by the name of Ella Rodriguez. This is someone A Boog has had an on-again/off-again relationship with for a solid four years. Moreover she is the mother of his child, and less than a month before this track was dropped, news was announced that they were expecting a second baby.
And again, there’s ample evidence present in the lyrics, which we won’t expound upon here, to conclude that she is indeed the addressee. So not only is this the case of a pop artist dropping a love song, but as is a bit unusual we also know exactly who it is he is singing about.
