“Claws” by Charli XCX
In this song, Charli XCX is apparently addressing a former romantic interest. And the bulk of the lyrics are dedicated to her detailing how much she likes him in addition to inviting him, more or less, to make love to her. Apparently the reason she is coming off in such a manner is because once again they are no longer together, yet she wants him back. So she is letting this individual know that she is very much turned on by him. Indeed she likes “everything about” him.
As for the title of this track, the word “claws” is never mentioned in the lyrics. Nor is there any clear allusion as to why Charli decided to name it so. However, it should be noted that at one particular point in time she was actually debating between the titles “Claws” and “I Like” for this particular tune. But going a bit out on a limb, perhaps the title points to the idea of her strong attraction to the addressee, i.e. her desire to sink her claws into him, so to speak.
