“Conversation” by LP

“Conversation” is one song which, according to LP, she wrote to her actual lover, another professional singer by the name of Lauren Ruth Ward. And what is revolves around is LP, due to the nature of her profession, being separated from Lauren from some time and desiring to send a message to her accordingly.

And it should also be noted that she seemingly wrote this song after the two of them had broken up, which would be why there is a tone of discontent or disagreement in the featured relationship.

So fundamentally we have two sentiments being expressed here. First would be the vocalist’s love for the addressee. The second, as implied by the title, is LP’s desire to have a frank, heartfelt conversation. And again, that request is premised on there being some palpable tension between the two parties involved, such that apparently they have not meaningfully communicated in a while. And from the vocalist’s perspective, it seems the main point she’s trying to get across is that even though some discontent may arise in a romance, that doesn’t mean the end of the world as far as said relationship is concerned.

Takeaway

Ultimately, the goal of this conversation does not appear to be to, say reignite what may be a dead romance. Or as LP puts it, she is looking for “just communication, not a revelation”. But it also pretty apparent that she doesn’t want things to potentially end between her and the addressee and is therefore making sure that their relationship doesn’t reach a point where they stop communicating altogether.
