“Dance Floor Darling” by Kylie Minogue
Kylie Minogue has described “Dance Floor Dancing” as an exercise in “escapism”. In other words, whereas other tracks on her Disco album may have deeper meanings, this song is not intended to be one of them. However, outside of the blatant nightclub motif, there is also a romantic thing going on here. In fact this is one of the few, if not only song on the album that arguably features a sexual undertone. Or rather let’s conclude that the addressee, who is the singer’s titular “dance floor darling”, is also someone whom she very much wants to get close to physically.
Sky Adams is the producer, as well as one of the writers of “Dance Floor Darling”. And the other writers, outside of Kylie herself, are Linslee Campbell and Maegan Cottone.
This is the 10th song on the playlist of Kylie Minogue’s 15th studio effort, Disco. And said album was released by record labels Darenote and BMG on 6 November 2020.
In addition to being an entertainer Minogue is also a businesswoman. For instance, she has her own brand of fragrances. And amongst the flavors she has minted available are two named Darling and Sexy Darling.
