“I Hate Everybody” by Halsey

Halsey’s “I Hate Everybody” is a bit more-complicated than your usual Halsey fare. Contrary to how its title may read it is meant to serve, in a roundabout way, as an expression of the songstress’s self-love. In other words, the concept it is based on, according to her own words, is that Halsey does not feel that she needs a celebrity boyfriend in the name of attracting a larger fanbase.

This idea is made a tad bit evident in the chorus when she questions ‘why can’t she go home without somebody?’ Or a different way of looking at this statement is that people criticize her for not being romantically linked with a particular person, most specifically another celebrity. But overall the lyrics of the song come off as sort of an unfiltered self-analysis – for instance with the singer labeling herself as her “own worst enemy”. And at times they read as if she is actually looking for a romantic partner.

But conclusively this track is intended to be centered on Halsey herself. It is not centered on the romantic partner or friends whom she references in the process.
