What is known, via Famous Birthdays, is that he’s an R&B singer from the ATL, and as of this writing Teddy is 30 years old. And based on Genius pageviews, his most popular song to date is a feature of Meghan Trainor on her 2022 track “Bad for Me”.

As for “Lose Control”, it is part of Swims’ forthcoming album titled “I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1)”, which marks his first full-length. The singer co-wrote this song with Mikky Ekko, Infamous and the track’s two producers, Julian Bunetta and Ammo.

Lyrics of “Lose Control”

Teddy’s explanation of this track isn’t necessarily the easiest to understand. But based on it, it appears that what this song is intended to speak to is the concept of not being able to let go of a romantic relationship, even though you know in your heart that it has run its course.

And the lyrics, to some degree, do appear to revolve around that concept. Or as presented, what is causing the vocalist to “lose control” is having to contend with life without his sweetheart, the addressee, by his side.

And as illustrated in the second verse, this dependency is not an emotional or even social one per se.  Instead, what Swims really misses is the addressee’s body, i.e. doing it with her, if you will. But in any event, what’s being relayed can be more simply taken as if he’s suffering from a broken heart, i.e. the vocalist admittedly being in a state whereas he can’t rightfully conduct himself due to the absence of the woman he has grown accustomed to loving.

“I lose control
When you’re not next to me
I’m fallin’ apart right in front of you, can’t you see?
I lose control
When you’re not next to me, mhm
Yeah, you’re breakin’ my heart, baby
You make a mess of me”
