Meaning of “Lucky You (Freestyle)” by Tory Lanez

The song “Lucky You Freestyle” was the first track officially released in the Tory Lanez versus Joyner Lucas beef. This song is the result of Lanez accepting Lucas’ challenge to a rap battle after Tory initiated the feud by stating on social media that his skills were superior to Joyner’s.

 Verse

This track consists primarily of one long verse.  And although this particular beef is known for being more lyrical than actual, Lanez starts off the track by basically bragging about his willingness to use a gun as well as the fact that he hangs out with criminal characters that have his back.  The rest of the verse basically plays along this same theme, except for adding in quite a number of verses dedicated to Tory’s extolling his admirable amount of wealth, which he spends primarily on flashy items and accommodating women.

 Outro

Unlike the single verse which dominates the song, the outro focuses more on the idea that this beef really is based on a lyrical as opposed to physical challenge.  Tory explains that writing songs like these comes “easy” to him, and that he can produce countless others if necessary.  He then welcomes any other rapper who would dare challenge him.
