“W” by Tory Lanez
A “W” is a slang term for a win. And Tory Lanez begins and ends this track by stating that that he “can’t step back on (his) block without no W”. That’s another way of saying that he won’t return to his hometown devoid of some symbol of his success. And at certain junctures of the song he does allude to the type of drive which enabled him to outperform his peers, i.e. those he came up with.
He also delves into the topic of romantic relationships, specifically how he seems to regularly have beef with his significant other. And overall this track has a mood of appreciation to it, as in Tory being thankful that he is indeed a winner. However, being who he is, the rapper is not taking a humble approach in putting this narrative across. Rather he presents himself as someone who always keeps it real and who is not the type to entertain slackers or counterproductive people.
