“Mount Everest” by Labrinth
Labrinth’s “Mount Everest” is a song in which the narrator (Labrinth) possesses godlike confidence and is boasting about it. Indeed even Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, “ain’t got sh*t on (him)”. This is symbolic about how highly – far exceeding a metaphorical 9,000 meters (30,000 feet) – Labrinth feels about himself.
He deems himself as being “on top of the world” and having no competition in his standing. Labrinth makes this lofty self-evaluation based on his wealth, unparalleled importance, criminal nature and “love” he receives from others. And in light of it all, he is so great that he “don’t need nobody”, specifically “to save him” since life is so “sweet”.
So ultimately, what we have here is a track in which the singer is reveling in his success. The song reads more like a dance song for partygoers who are feelings supremely-confident about themselves.
