She assures him that they will go through both good and tough times together, because she believes they will live a joyful life in the end. She proceeds to point out that she doesn’t care about what the masses are saying and no one or nothing in the world could possibly get in between her love for her man.

In the second verse, Alicia likens her tears and painful moments to rainfall. She consoles herself with the awareness that her lover will always be there to support and be her shoulder to lean on during difficult times. She admits that their love is so special because other people spend their whole lives trying to find true love. She also tells him that there will be people who cannot stand seeing them together, but their efforts will be in vain because the love they feel for each other is strong enough to withstand any form of pressure.
