Alicia Keys

NYC’s Alicia Keys is the artist who defined turn-of-the-century R&B music. She was somewhat of a virtuoso, exhibiting exceptional musical abilities from childhood. She was even actually signed by the ever-popular Columbia Records at the tender of 15.

An entire book can be written on her career, but for the sake of brevity, we will mention just a few of her most-notable achievements. As of the year 2020, the following are just a handful of her awards:

  • 5 American Music Awards
  • 12 ASCAP Awards
  • 16 Billboard Music Awards

  • 7 BMI Urban Awards
  • 16 Grammy Awards

In 2008, she also set a Guinness World Record in terms of her exceptional performance on a Billboard. And she has gone on to earn the title of the ‘Queen of R&B’ in the eyes of many.

Alicia has always been perceived as one of the most-genuine street-based artists in the game. Her music is real, and her artistry is ultimately a reflection of her personality. She is a true urban artist, being seen as a representative of her people and her background.  And her history of activism and philanthropy reflect this reality.

Concerning her unique looks, she is multi-racial. She is partially of African-American, Italian and Puerto Rican descent.
