“Room For 2” by Benson Boone
According to Benson Boone’s own explanation of “Room For 2”, it was inspired by him apparently falling in love for the first time (with the singer being 19 years old as of the writing of this post). And with that in mind, this is more or less your standard love song.
The first verse revolves around the vocalist assuring the addressee, his sweetheart, that he will be there for her in her times of need, no matter what challenge she’s facing. And the second illustrates that not only is Benson ever falling deeper in love, but also when he spends too much time away from his honeybun he gets depressed. The title is a metaphor further pointing to the idea that that he is thoroughly smitten, i.e. the singer having “room for two” – as in him and the addressee – in his heart.
Benson Boone and “Room for 2”
Benson Boone is a social media star with singing talent. He participated on the 2021 edition of American Idol. On the said, competition, he performed fairly well. Somewhere along the line, despite being a popular contestant who reportedly judge Katy Perry believed would emerge as an American Idol champion, Boone decided to withdraw from the contest. However, he still has a large social media following and went on to sign a contract with Warner Records later in 2021.
By the looks of things, Benson has only released one proper single prior to “Room for 2”, which came out on 18 February 2022. The other single would be 2021’s “Ghost Town”, which did prove to be a moderate international hit.
Benson wrote this piece (“Room for 2”), working in that regard with Plested and Jorgen Odegard. And Odegard also produced it.
