“Skydive” by Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys’ “Skydive” is actually one of those you-and-I-can-take-on-the-world kinda songs. The nature of the relationship between the vocalist and addressee is not really specified in the song. However, by all means the latter would be some type of a close loved one.

Basically, the title serves as a metaphor for how high the two of them can soar – so to speak – so long as they have faith and believe in each other, i.e. the power of their relationship. But that noted, the vocalist is the one taking on the onus of the responsibility, as in being convinced that she can lead the addressee to the promised land.

In the end, this would have made an excellent theme song for The Matrix Resurrections, not only due to references to the vocalist and addressee flying but also the implicit notion that such greatness can only be achieved if they are hand-in-hand.
