Thumbs is a song recorded by American singer, songwriter and actress Sabrina Carpenter from her second studio album titled EVOLution. Speaking with iHeartRadio in November 2016, Carpenter revealed for the first time the meaning of Thumbs. According to her, the song talks “about the world”, where “there is so much hate” going on. She talked of how there is always “so much of the same thing” happening all the time and the need to change things and make the world better.

According to her, the message of the song is that we shouldn’t be “mediocre”. We should go out and be “greater than that.” So whenever you hear Carpenter’s Thumbs playing on the radio, she’s basically telling you to go out there and look at things and do things differently from your mundane routines.

Whats wrong there, nothing but the real problem is it wastes the girl;s life.
Any girl would like to marry a boy and nearly never old people getting a young girl married for first time with an old man which may had two or more marriages earlier ruins the whole life of the girl and i can figure out why parents do that to their poor daughters even though i dont accept with it

It’s about marrying to keep money in the family. “They all just try to multiply [$$$] with one another”

The song is a bit confusing in the beginning but when they say the fathers mother and then mother in the next sentence their talking about the same person, so the fathers sister gets married to his wife’s brother

  7. marshmellowpenguin says:

I thought it was about how marriage was so overrated and that girls should not be put lower than boys. I also thought it was about how everyone marries someone and like this was the norm but it actually isn’t because LGBTQ community exists

  8. Toph says:

Basically, they are not married to their relatives because here:

“Somewhere in the world, there is a father and a mother and the father is a son, who has a mother.” There are three persons mentioned in these lines. The father, the mother, and the grandma.

“The mother has a daughter who gets married to the brother of a mother.” It says here that the mother has a daughter and that daughter married the brother of another mother.

You can tell that there is no incest happening because if it does, the line would say “THE MOTHER has a DAUGHTER who gets married to the BROTHER of THE MOTHER.”

It’s kinda confusing but I hope you guys can understand.
