And no, it doesn’t read like he said anything offensive to her. Rather he opened up to her – revealed his vulnerability shall we presume. And in response, homegirl just cold left him, breaking his heart in the process. It’s like verbally, he totally took their relationship to a level that she was not prepared for. But he did so clearly not being cognizant of the consequences. Or rather there were two conflicting voices in his head. The first voice was telling him to do it. The second voice emphatically told him not to. And well, we already know what path he chose.

So now he finds himself fighting just to say in the friend zone. Additionally, he’s in a state of shock due to how abruptly she left him. So now, he’s basically pledging not to go there with her again so long as she takes him back. Indeed at the end of the day, he feels as if the words which came out of his mouth have totally backfired in terms of their idealized intent.

Did Ruel pen this song?

Yes. This is a self-written song. Ruel penned this song, according to his estimation, at the “start of 2019”. In between then and its release date, he has put out about 10 singles as well as a couple of EPs. But the reason he did not come out with “Too Many Feelings” earlier is because he didn’t “feel like it would fit on any of (his) EPs”.

Although this is a self-penned song, it’s worth stating that Ruel did not write this song alone. He was assisted in his writing endeavor by two other songwriters. These co-writers are Peter J. Harding and M-Phazes. M-Phazes, who also produced the track, is an accomplished Australian musician in his own right. Over the years, M-Phazes has produced works for some of the biggest names in the game, including Madonna, Eminem and Demi Lovato. In fact it was M-Phazes who helped introduce the world to Ruel and even collaborated with the young singer on the first track he ever dropped, 2017’s “Golden Years”.
