“When I’m Down” by Oliver Tree

Oliver Tree’s “When I’m Down” begins his claiming that he gets psychologically disturbed whenever he is alone. This could possibly sum up the theme of the song which is based on his emotionally depressed state following a breakup or some kind of loss.

The singer further talks about how he tries to stop himself from seeing or speaking, but can’t seem to stop moving. He then questions his addressee on why they would inflict more harm when he’s already down. This could signify a loved one hurting their emotions when they are already aware that they cannot be with him.

In the verse and bridge, the narrator makes it clear that they are down because their significant other is walking in and out of their lives and they can’t seem to help themselves.
