“Better Now” by Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello

In “Better Now”, Ed Sheeran (supported by Camila Cabello) plays the role of someone who seems as if he is about to embark on a fresh, committed relationship. The issue is that apparently he engaged in romance before – and failed. So for instance, as insinuated at the beginning of the song, he is going to “build a Lego house” – in other words, not vest too much of his heart into the relationship – to allow him an easy escape just in case this current one suffers the same fate.

But the rest of the song expresses a somewhat contradictory sentiment. You can see that he is very much in love, and so is the other person, portrayed once again by Camila Cabello. They admit they are “out of touch” and “out of love”, insinuating that they have been out of the romance loop for so long that they doubt their current effectiveness as a partner. However, this does not deter the two from being there for each other. In fact all things considered, Ed and Camila believe that they are better lovers now than they were before, thus the title of this track.

This song is the first released collaboration between Sheeran and Cabello. In May 2018, Sheeran revealed to the world that he and Cabello had written a song together. The song in question was titled “The Boy”. It was supposed to have appeared on Cabello’s debut studio album titled Camila. However, for some reason, the track failed to make it onto that album.
