“Hurtless” by Dean Lewis 

Dean Lewis has implied that his song “Hurtless” is based on a real life romance he was involved in. That experience was marked by him being under the impression that the other party involved was his soulmate, only to realize later, the hard way, that she was not. 

That said, the purpose of the lyrics of “Hurtless” are to enlighten us as to what exactly transpired.

As it reads, once the initial euphoria of love wore off, the vocalist and his partner came to the realization that they “had demons”, which is basically another way of saying that both of them can be difficult to deal with at times. But then, after one particular fight they had, Dean’s homeys saw his lady moving with another guy during an evening that she didn’t return home. The vocalist was caught off guard by the fact that she would take it that far. Or viewed differently, that’s when he truly understood that their relationship had no future.

So basically, this is a song of heartbreak. The vocalist is keeping it real in admitting that in the here and now, he’s very much in his feelings. But he’s also confident that as time progresses, he will get over this broken heart. However, that confidence still doesn’t make what he is currently going through “hurt less” in the present.

Dean Lewis is a singer from Australia who, in his brief career thus far (having gotten started in the late 2010s) has proven especially successful in his part of the world. His first track of 2022 is “Hurtless”, which was released on 31 March of said year. Dean wrote and produced this track alongside another Oceania-based musician named Jon Hume.

The music video to this song, as directed by James Fitzgerald, was filmed in Ireland and features a couple of professional actors from that country in Stephanie Dufresne and Frank Blake.
