“I’m So Gone” by Tate McRae

The implication behind the lyrics , even though Tate McRae has tried to describe “I’m So Gone” as sort of a general-relationship piece, is that the addressee is a romantic interest, i.e. her ex-boyfriend. And times have changed, or at least they have for Tate.

Back in the days when she was down to make moves, the addressee rather opted to loiter in his dad’s basement, as he still is today. But more to the point is the fact that he also proceeded to ‘push her away’ or, more bluntly put, dump Tate.

Well now, she’s the new hotness in the game. And contrastingly, the addressee has not accomplished anything, on top of having a preference to “get wasted”, which is another way of saying that he has alcohol problems (which, to note, is also an issue expressed in “Don’t Come Back”, the similarly-minded track which precedes this on album).

So now, what Tate is basically telling him is that she’s not interested anymore. Or as some people may say, dude has lost himself a good thing. And indeed, that vocalist is very much hoping that he is in his feelings as a result.
