“In Your Eyes” by The Weeknd
The Weeknd’s “In Your Eyes” is vaguely reminiscent of another track on “After Hours” which is entitled “Hardest to Love”. For on that track also The Weeknd is able to perceive that the addressee is going through some type of emotional distress despite the front she may be trying to put up. Also in both cases, it is apparent that he is actually addressing a romantic interest.
In this particular song though the singer expounds that he actually got involved with other women in his further quest for love. However, throughout, it was actually the addressee ‘that was on his mind’. So succinctly put, this is a dual-themed love song. On one hand, we have the narrator coming to realize, via his romantic experimentations with other women, that his significant other is truly the only one for him. And on the other he has recognized that said experimentations have caused her a considerable amount of emotional pain. And the way he is able to perceive the latter is ‘in her eyes’, even if she tries to conceal such.

This song was released by The Weeknd XO, Inc. and Republic Records on 20 March 2020 with the rest of The Weeknd’s “After Hours” album. It is also officially the third official single from that project.
Writing and Production
The Weeknd himself produced this track along with Oscar Holter and iconic Swedish songwriter and producer Max Martin. And the three of them also contributed to its penning in conjunction with Noah Sammak and Belly.
