“Julia” by Lauv

This track by Lauv would logically be about singer “Julia” Michaels. Michaels is one of Lauv’s musical peers whom he had a brief yet well-publicized romantic relationship with in 2018. And the way the story played out is that when it was all said and done, Lauv came off as the bad guy. 

Indeed, in the chorus of this song he does acknowledge that he “hurt” Julia and was toying with her thoughts and emotions. This is despite her coming along at a point in his life where we can say, according to the lyrics, he was suffering from depression, which she effectively helped alleviate. So he’s now apologizing for the way he mistreated her. And he goes on to further state regret for wasting her time in the first place. And along those same lines he is also wishing her the best henceforth, specifically it would seem in terms of her future romantic endeavors. 

So all things considered, we can classify this as a song of remorse. The singer realized he wronged someone in the past who didn’t deserve it, so in the present he wants to make peace with her, so to speak.
