“Look What I’ve Become” by Mike Posner (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)
The premise of “Look What I’ve Become” is a project Mike Posner is currently engaged in (as of the song’s release date). And this project is his goal of walking across the continental United States. Posner has his own reasons for doing this, one of which is apparently reaching a higher sense of self-awareness and well-being. And that is fundamentally the subject matter upon which this song is based on.

What these and similar statements ultimately point to is Posner transitioning from the “pop singer” we all know and love to “now [being] himself”. In other words, his three months on the road has had a transformative effect. And this transformation is so profound that he wishes to share it with the world. So logically, we should be looking forward to even more of such music once the singer actually completes his trek.
Ty Dolla $ign steps in
Meanwhile Ty Dolla takes a different approach to the main subject of this song. And what he relates it to is his come-up, as in look at the successful artist he has become since his earlier days of rolling the mean streets of “South Central” Los Angeles. And conclusively, what he is saying is that his accomplishments is the way he goes about ‘killing’ his enemies, and his ascension into a mega pop artist was more or less ordained by God.
What “Look What I’ve Become” is all about
So this song is about the personal evolution of the artists involved. They are asking the world to look at how they have changed, in a positive sense, from their earlier eras to now. Mike Posner touts himself as an individual who has forsaken “drugs”, “alcohol” and “wealth” in the name of becoming a more-enlightened human being. And in almost direct contrast, Ty Dolla is focused more on his attainment of riches and worldly success as a progressive sign that he is not the same person he was before.

Contrary to what some think, this isn’t Mike Posner’s first collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign. Both men have teamed up in the past. Mike provided an interlude on Ty’s 2014 mixtape Sign Language, specifically at the end of the song “Issue”.
