Meaning of “Ruins II” by Birdy
Premise-wise, what we are apparently met with on “Ruins II” is a troubled relationship between the vocalist and addressee, to the point that Birdy would understand if the other party decided to go his separate way.
But that said, she obviously doesn’t want him to go and expresses herself in that regard. In further keeping it real, the vocalist understands that if the two of them do stay together, things aren’t going to be easy. But she is confident nonetheless that they “can make it out”, i.e. survive as a couple and, due to her love, is encouraging the addressee along those lines.
