“Rollerblades” by Dominic Fike

This Dominic Fike tune is undoubtedly a love song. Its title, when taken literally, alludes to Fike’s fascination with the addressee’s, i.e. his romantic interest’s, physical frame. Or as he poetically put it, he ‘loves her body from her shoulder blades to her roller blades’, with rollerblades of course being a device one wears on their feet. Or stated differently, he appreciates her from head to toe.

But alas, the relationship has apparently dissolved. Indeed it has been put forth that the title of this song alludes to the idea of this lady skating away, as in leaving the singer. It is not specified why they broke up, but the general implication is that Dominic – and perhaps the female also – were too young to handle that type of commitment. So his fascination with her, despite being the song’s thesis, is just one of its theme. For also he regrets that they broke up and is basically waiting for the opportunity when he can once again reclaim her.
