“Slide Through” by Dante Sklaw (ft. Kehlani)

Slide through is a colloquial term which, in its most general usage, means to “come over”. So if someone were to say they are sliding through, that generally means they are coming over for a visit. Now if said person is actually a lover, than the phrase tends to take on a more-specific meaning of coming over for a romantic rendezvous. And that is sort of the vein upon which this song operates.

So it can be said that Dante Sklaw and Kehlani are portraying the role of prospective lovers. Indeed based on how Sklaw comes off in the song’s singular verse, it seems as if they are not yet romantically involved. And in the chorus, they put forth the idea that they “chill” together hard yet are on a platonic level. However, Dante definitely wants to take their relationship further. Indeed he makes this aspiration abundantly clear in the bridge, where “slide through” is used more in the aforementioned romantic fashion.

So conclusively, “Slide Through” is a love song. In the present state of the relationship between the two narrators, it can be deemed that they are very-close friends. However, Dante in particular expresses a desire to take their association to the next level.
