“Those Kinda Nights” by Eminem (ft. Ed Sheeran)

In “Those Kinda Nights”, Eminem is reminiscing to an earlier part of the 21st century when he used to hang out more with the likes of 50 Cent and his former rap crew, D-12. More specifically, he is thinking back to the types of women he met in clubs and his romantic interactions with a couple of them.  For the sake of simplicity said women can perhaps be best described as groupies. And Eminem liked to deal with them in hopes of scoring some fast bedroom fun.

Ed Sheeran’s role in the grand scheme of the lyrics is expressing this desire on the behalf of Slim Shady. And when all is said and done, Eminem does count these relationships up as being trivialities. Or as Marshall himself puts it, he never ‘met a woman worth knowing in the club’.

So one way of looking at this song in its entirety is as it being based on Eminem mocking the women who gave in, as well those who dissed him, during his younger, wilder days. And “those kinda nights” are actually the evenings in which he was high and on the loose inside of nightclubs, i.e. the venues in which he would meet these ladies.
