“You Gon’ Learn” by Eminem (ft. Royce da 5’9” & White Gold)

In “You Gon’ Learn”, the artists, specifically White Gold and Eminem, are addressing a “little boy” whom they are exclaiming is “going to learn”, thus the title. That particular phrase reads like a threat. In other words, the “little boy” would most likely be one of the vocalists’ peers, as in a rival who they are demeaning by addressing as a small child. And what he is going to learn, the hard way, is to respect them. Or simply put, the title and chorus of this song are centered on a threat.

And White Gold, who holds down the chorus, can be said to be serving as Eminem’s mouthpiece in menacing this individual.

Meanwhile Royce da 5’9” deviates from this theme, rather focusing on his earlier days and expressing appreciation – to a cosmic force you can say – due to becoming a successful artist. Eminem starts off his verse along a similar vein, recounting his tale from rags to riches. But again his lyrics are mainly centered on detailing the terrible things he’s bound to do to some unnamed adversary.

So conclusively, we can say that “You Gon’ Learn” is by and large a beef track.  However Royce and Eminem reminisce on the days before they blew up and understand that they are fortunate for their professional accomplishments.
