“Godzilla” by Eminem (ft. Juice WRLD)
Godzilla, as you probably already know, is a well-known movie monster whose claim to fame is causing mass destruction. And in this song, Eminem is directly comparing himself to this fictional character for a couple of reasons. One is that at times he has the tendency to adopt a likeminded disposition – for instance when he’s rolling with his boys through a party. And in such cases it would behoove knuckleheads to stay out of his way.
Secondly, as illustrated in Juice WRLD’s chorus, just as Godzilla spits fire from his mouth, so does Eminem. But whereas in the monster’s case it may be literal fire, in terms of rap music this expression serves as a metaphor for rapping proficiently.
And honestly this track is a classic display of Slim Shady’s impressive lyricism and ability to create unique metaphors. And overall the idea being presented is that of Eminem being one wild dude who can go ballistic at any given second.
