“In Too Deep” by Eminem
Eminem’s “In Too Deep” is based on the narrator being in a romantic relationship with a woman who is married to another man. Likewise he too is in a committed romance. However, the reality of the situation is that they love each other more than they care for their official partners. But since they are in fact in an illicit affair, they have to keep things on the down low.
Or another way of looking at it is that their feelings for each other are being repressed due to the restraint they must practice in expressing them. And Eminem sees this as a problematic situation. So this is what he means when he says that they are “just in too deep”. The logical thing to do would be to terminate the affair. Yet the love shared between them will not allow them to do so. And as such, the rapper is prepared to continue deceiving his girlfriend, as well as this lady’s husband, into perpetuity in the name of being able to continue his relationship with her.
