“4th Baby Mama” by Summer Walker

Not that long ago it seemed as if Summer Walker and her most consistent musical collaborators, producer London on da Track, were enjoying one of the more stable romances amongst hip-hop royalty. But apparently those in the know knew that things weren’t that steady after all.

You can view the lyrics, alternate interprations and sheet music for Summer Walker's 4th Baby Mama at Lyrics.org.

And now, well, London is not actually namedropped in “4th Baby Mama”. But the unanimous consensus, even as far as on da Track himself is concerned, is that such is in fact the case, i.e. this song being about him.

And if so, then the easiest way to describe this track is as a direct, personalized diss track. That is to say that Summer’s grip with the addressee extends beyond their relationship issues per se, with her attacking the very person that he is. So for instance she even disses his mother, in a roundabout way, implying that mom dukes should correct her son but doesn’t because he’s paid.

Also, one interesting part of the second verse is when Summer depicts London as someone who is sweating Drake and even beyond that like a fake n–ga in the game.

But considering that we don’t have anything personal against him, if you, the reader, would like some more tea, as gossip is called these days, then we suggest you enjoy this song yourself. But that said, we cannot close without touching upon its title.

The Title

For starters, London and Summer did indeed give birth to a bouncing baby girl earlier in 2021. However, their actual romance did not survive. And in terms of the thesis sentiment of this track, Walker is calling him “a liar… cheater… deceiver [and] heartbreaker”, i.e. a deadbeat dad who is not keeping his promise to stay committed to their relationship.

And yes, London does reportedly have four children with four different women, including Summer, who is the recent of the lot. And on his part, he seems to be doing his best to take this most recent round of baby mama drama in stride.

In other words, this isn’t the first time he’s been put on blast by one of his baby’s mothers in terms of being an unfit dad. But Summer has more of a publicly-acknowledged voice and also seems like one of those types of women who doesn’t take a scorning lightly. For instance, even though she namedrops Young Thug in what can be deemed an offensive manner, Thugger, himself not known for backing down from a fight, did address the issue while simultaneously showing her some degree of respect. So London may be in for a long ride if he fails to make peace with his “4th baby mama”.

“4th Baby Mama” and Summer Walker

This song is derived from an album entitled “Still Over It”, which is Summer Walker’s second studio offering. And it has been noted that the entire project, which was put out on 5 November 2021 by Interscope Records and Love Renaissance, is filled with jabs aimed at London on da Track.

Walker’s first studio album, 2019’s Over It, was executively produced by London on da Track. And it was during that time that the two of them struck up their romantic relationship. However, their romance has been the type that is commonly referred to as ‘on again off again’, i.e. the two of them having “split a few times before their final break-up in mid-2021”.

So understandably, “4th Baby Mama” is one Summer Walker song that London did not participate on. And instead, this time around the producers are as follows:

  • Nineteen85
  • Daniel East
  • Active by Night
  • Slimwav

And with the exception of East, the other three producers are also given songwriting credit alongside Summer Walker and the following:

  • Daniel Guerrero
  • Ernest Dixon
  • Tyrell Bing
  • Roy Hamilton

Outside of Young Thug, songstress Kelly Rowland, even though she isn’t mentioned in the lyrics, publicly acknowledged the dropping of “4th Baby Mama”, reportedly expressing concern that her own son doesn’t grow up to be a deadbeat dad.
