“Serial Lover” by Kehlani
In this track it is Kehlani herself who is the titular “serial lover”. And what that statement basically means is that she conducts herself in such a manner in which she engages in a number of romantic relationships. The way the overall situation reads is that she behaves in such a manner due to good intentions. Basically she is naturally receptive to falling in love and enjoys romance. However, it seems that said relationships for her tend to be fleeting. As such, she also finds herself in the position in which she is contemplating taking a break from the game.
However, conclusively, as stated earlier, she realizes that she cannot stop herself from being with other people. Moreover she acknowledges, in a roundabout way, that she is not exactly an angel when it comes to the singles’ game herself. Indeed she goes about warning those who want to get with her to know exactly what they are getting into.
So conclusively, in this song Kehlani comes off as someone who has adjusted to the unpredictability and up and downs of the dating game. And in doing so she has become a predatory lover herself, so to speak.
